My Death, My Decision?

  • Moseley Exchange 149–153 Alcester Road, Moseley Birmingham United Kingdom (map)

We warmly invite you to join us at the Mosley Exchange for an evening talk by Phil Cheatle on the topic of assisted dying.

One of life's certainties is that we will all die. People are living longer but this comes with the risk of spending our final months or years, experiencing a poor quality of life well below what we would ever want to personally experience. How much choice should we all have in deciding the manner and timing of our death?

This opens up a range of complex ethical questions, attracting strong opinions and concerns on all sides of the debate. Join us as Phil guides us through one of the biggest topics impacting 21st-century society - as they share their personal experience and professional insights with us all.

Refreshments and an opportunity to socialise will be possible before and after the talk.

Phil Cheatle is the Lead Campaign Commentator of the campaign group "My Death, My Decision" (MDMD). They previously worked as a research scientist, before getting involved with the assisted dying campaign, working closely with Humanists UK.

MDMD are campaigning in England and Wales to allow those who are terminally ill or intolerably suffering the option of a legal, safe, and compassionate assisted death.
