Humanist ceremonies are often people’s first point of contact with humanism and can play an important part in introducing people to humanist ideas and views of the world.
If you’ve ever been to a humanist funeral, you will know how special they are – a real celebration of a person’s life. Probably there are fewer people who have attended a humanist wedding or naming ceremony. To find out more about what happens at humanist ceremonies, come along to our meeting on 14 February, when Holly Austin-Davies, an accredited humanist celebrant, will outline what the ceremonies are like and explain the process of preparing for them.
Birmingham Humanists currently sponsor a bursary for aspiring humanist celebrants, and Holly will be happy to answer any questions about the process of training and qualifying for this rewarding role..
