We warmly invite you to join us at the Mosley Exchange this December for an evening discussion on what Humanism means to different people.
While there is no concrete definition, HUK define a Humanist roughly as someone who;
Trusts the scientific method when it comes to understanding how the universe works and rejects the idea of the supernatural (and is therefore an atheist or agnostic).
Makes their ethical decisions based on reason, empathy, and concern for human beings and other sentient animals.
Believes that, in the absence of an afterlife and any discernible purpose to the universe, human beings can act to give their own lives meaning by seeking happiness in this life and helping others to do the same.
Over the evening we will explore a range of personal perspectives on what Humanism means to people. In what ways do Humanist values shape the way we choose to live and behave? Is there a correct way to interpret our world and how should this shape action in wider society?
Refreshments will be available throughout and the opportunity to socialise will be possible before and after the talk.
If you’d like to come, please use the form below to book your place. We look forward to seeing you there!
