We warmly invite you to join us at the Moseley Exchange this July, for a fascinating talk by Dr. Ruth Wareham , as she unpacks the role of local councils in shaping Religious Education, and Humanists UK’s mission to create a more inclusive and balanced curriculum
With increasing awareness of the need for inclusive and balanced teaching in Religious Education, what role do Standing Advisory Councils on Religious Education (SACREs) play in shaping how beliefs—both religious and non-religious—are taught in our schools?
Together, we'll delve into some pressing questions, including:
How are SACREs influencing the portrayal of faith and belief in UK classrooms?
What impact does this have on pupils from humanist or non-religious backgrounds?
How are schools responding to the requirement to teach about atheism and humanism?
What steps can communities take to ensure inclusive and accurate representation of diverse worldviews?
There will be time for questions and open discussion following the talk—whether you'd like to share your views or simply listen and reflect.
